Since my current 'waterproof' mascara just plain... isn't waterproof, I've been researching what new one to get~ One of the ones suggested was the Collection 2000 Skyscraper Waterproof Length & Definition Mascara, which is only £4.99! Well, I popped to Boots before work on Saturday and found that it had been re-branded as 'Skylash', but apart from the name change, the product packaging was identical (there was one 'Skyscraper' mascara remaining, so I compared the two).
I tried it on for work on the Saturday and these are the results after about 9 hours:

There was a noticeable 'shadow' of mascara underneath both eyes, which it was hard to capture in artificial light, but you can see it pretty well in the middle image above. As I write this on Sunday, I topped up the mascara a teensy bit for work today (just before 8), and by about 12 there was a pretty ghastly ring of black underneath my eye. XD I was still at work, though, so I just wiped it off the best I could and didn't take a picture.
This is a pretty common problem for me, I think because my lashes are quite long and straight. I guess wearing false lower lashes actually helps preserve my makeup in this case..! XD
I'm also not too happy with the way the product looks and feels on my lashes, so I think I'll be moving on to one of the other highly-rated products soon! If you have a recommendation for me, please let me know~ ^^

I have/used to have the exact same problem but for me (like you said) lower lashes help lift my lashes up so that the mascara doesnt spread^^ Also, I use Sensai 38 degrees mascara and even though it is a bit expensive, it doesnt spread at all for me (even if i dont wear lower lashes)! \O/ Maybe you could try it^^ If you want to find it cheaper, buy it the next time you go to an airport, they usually have it in the shops way cheaper than normal~
ReplyDeleteThanks, I will keep an eye out for it at the airport! I figure it's probably cheaper in Japan anyway, right?
DeleteDoes it really stay waterproof in normal conditions, though, if it can be washed off with warm water? :o
I'm not sure because I haven't yet been in Japan but I'm guessing it is~ And for me it really does stay waterproof, really depends on the climate though. But here (Finland), I walk to school everyday and especially now the wind is so strong and its snowing at the same time but my mascara has not ever even budged~ :D
DeleteWow, that's great! :) My eyes water a lot when it's windy (especially if it's bright outside as well), so that sounds really encouraging.
DeleteIt seems there are several different varieties (volumising, lengthening, etc.)- do you just use the plain, original type?
I used to use this mascara too! I stopped using it cause a. I poked myself in the eye with it more than I have ever done with other mascara (I think something to do with the brush ><) and b. I'd always end up with it running under my eye too ><
ReplyDeleteYeah, I think it's because the brush is so soft/flexible! >< The short side is definitely good for getting the lower lashes coated, though. I'll give it a few more tries before writing it off, but I already have some idea what one I will go for next! X3
